"Ive never been much of a drinker. I mean, Ive had a beer or two on occasion, but Ive never really been in one of those situations where I just compulsively need a drink. I started playing Star Trek and was having a pretty alright time with its subpar co-op, third-person shooter action. Then Kirk uttered a line about how he was frustrated with the number of locked doors along their path. It was meant to be a quip, delivered by the dashing action hero and used to lighten the mood in a desperate situation. But this line only frustrated me. I hate it when characters call out flaws in a games design in an effort to brush them off; its as if the designer knows the game is terrible, and wants to joke about it with the player. I had a pack of PBR sitting untouched in my fridge for a pretty long time. Its no longer there. All thats left are a few crushed cans and a crumpled up cardboard box sitting in the corner next to my trash can."

VideoGamer: "Star Trek is an inspirational game. Not in a good way, of course. But it is so immensely tiresome, so poor and such a cash-in that it has inspired me to change the way I review games, for one night only, and take the same approach to reviewing the game that it does to your time: put loads of bad things in linear succession."

A movie tie-in which is out the same day the reviews hit? I wonder if it's going to be any good?
Things that are good about Star Trek:
-Chris Pine's face is nicely rendered.
-The opening of the game contains a reference to this scene in Rocky III.
-Some of the zero-gravity stuff when you're outside of a ship is nice to look at.
Things that are bad about Star Trek:
- You play as a missile at one point, fired from the USS Enterprise. This is not a joke. When the missile hits its target, it crashes into it with all the venom of a rubber swimming float gently lapping into the side of a lane-swim only swimming pool. All combat is this...

Kotaku - "I'm really hurting here," exclaimed the dashing and courageous Captain James T. Kirk, bruised and bloody on the cold metal floor of the space station, phaser gripped tight in his shaking hand. "That's the logical result of charging face-first into a fortified turret, you stupid son-of-a-bitch," I replied in a calm, measured tone. My Spock is a bit of a potty mouth.

GamesRadar - Space isn't really the final frontier. It isn't. We know that's what Star Trek says, but, you know, it's a lie. It turns out, the final frontier is playing a Star Trek game. Who knew? Want to find out how we knew that? Watch the video below, wherein we make a bunch of Star Trek jokes and do impressions and stuff. Give it a watch, and then engage in the comments.
